Remutaka Cycle Trail
Located in Catchpool Valley & Orongorongo Valley and Rimutaka Forest Park in the Wellington/Kapiti region.
Camp Wainui provides for all types of groups requiring accommodation – from small groups to larger numbers. There are three accommodation areas – the Peter Burgess Lodge Complex; the Grattan Bushline Hut plus tent and caravan sites.
Frequent users of the camp include schools, sports clubs, and church groups. We are also pleased to host regular community events and celebrations of all kinds.
Grounds
The larger part of the Camp’s 240 hectares is clad in a mixed native bush. There are several tracks through the bush for easy or more challenging hikes. Some tracks lead to the adjacent Rimutaka Forest Park.
There are also:
grassed fields for sporting activities and/or tenting
a lagoon for swimming or canoeing
a confidence course
Management
The camp is managed for the BB Camp Wainui Trust Board by our part-time management staff, Miria and John, who live on site with their family. The trustees are volunteers with experience working with youth e.g. through serving as leaders in The Boys’ Brigade.
We hope that when you come you will enjoy your stay at Camp Wainui.
