Wainuiomata Southern Coast & Baring Head
Explore for a couple of hours or camp nearby at Remutaka Forest Park or cosy up at Riverstone Cottage.
This coastline is raw, powerful and stunning. You can often see across to the Southern Alps of NZ’s South Island.
As well as surging waves and lots of wildlife you can also enjoy spotting the geological features from past earthquakes.
Location
Only 23 kilometers from Wellington city center, the trip to Te Papa or Parliament takes only about 30 minutes by road – except during “rush hour”. The journey provides fine views of the harbour and of the Hutt Valley. Located at 203 Coast Road, Wainuiomata, the camp is less than 4 km South of the town’s shopping centre (with supermarket). And we are only 10km from Lower Hutt city center and hospital.
