Our Story
Love Wainuiomata started with a simple belief that when we come together, share what we have, and lift each other up, our whole community thrives.
The saying goes, “With your food basket and my food basket, the people will thrive,”and that’s been the heartbeat of everything we do.
We’re a connector, a storyteller, and an advocate for Wainuiomata, forged from movers and shakers in the valley. We’ve been out there on the ground at BBQs, on doorsteps, at rugby games and kaumātua gatherings, listening to our people, hearing their hopes, and turning that into action.
Our collaborative events have become part of the fabric of this place. From Xmas in the Nui, to Matariki ki Wainuiomata, thousands come together to celebrate who we are. Our Wainui Connections Breakfasts have given local stakeholders a platform to connect, grow, and support each other. Furthermore our online presence has become a “digital marae,” reaching hundreds of thousands, keeping our people connected and proud no matter where they are.
We’re also a voice for the community. We stand alongside locals, businesses, and leaders to make sure Wainuiomata’s identity is seen, heard, and respected in decision-making. From town centre vibrancy to youth spaces, from supporting local enterprise to building community gathering places, we support development that reflects our values and our people.
And our journey is still unfolding.
We started small with a dream to lift our economy and for Wainuiomata to be the place where you could have it all
We built trust through grassroots mahi.
We grew into a movement that gives Wainuiomata a stronger voice.
And now, we’re shaping the future with the people at the centre.
Love Wainuiomata is for the people, by the people. Hā ora Wainuiomata. This is our home, and together we’re building a Wainuiomata we can all be proud of.
